Induction Handheld Brazing Copper To Steel Tube

Induction Handheld Brazing Copper To Steel Tube

Induction Handheld Brazing Copper To Steel Tube Objective Braze copper cylinders, copper wires, and steel tubes in under 20 seconds using the DW-UHF-6KW-III handheld induction heating system. Equipment DW-UHF-6KW-III handheld induction heating system Test 1 Materials • Copper cylinder to copper wire. Power: 6.6kW Temperature: 871° C (1600° F) Time: 20 sec Test 2 Materials • Copper cylinder to steel tube. Power: 10 kW Temperature: 871° C (1600° F) Time: 10 to 11 sec Results and Conclusions: It is recommended to use brazing alloy preforms / rings instead of a brazing rod. This allows the user to use both hands to hold the U-Braze. It also improves the quality of the braze and repeatability by distributing the correct amount of alloy all around the braze joint every time. When brazing copper to steel, it is best to preheat the copper to avoid overheating the steel piece since the copper is harder to heat.   Handheld Brazing Copper To Steel Tube Induction Handheld Brazing Copper To Steel Tube [wpforms id="3947"] https://dw-inductionheater.com/induction-handheld-brazing-copper-to-steel-tube.html?feed_id=240602&_unique_id=661409426faca

Handheld Induction Brazing Copper Tubing and Fitting

Handheld Induction Brazing Copper Tubing and Fitting Process

Objective Induction brazing copper to copper: ½” copper tubing and copper fitting with brazing alloy and flux using the DWS-10 HandHeld Induction Brazing System.
Equipment  DWS-10 handheld induction brazing heater Materials • Copper fitting • Copper tubing • Silver brazing alloy (pre-formed) • Flux
Process:
  1. The copper tubing and brass fitting were assembled together.
  2. A pre-form of the silver brazing alloy was seated above the joint, and flux was added.
  3. The assembly was placed within a fixture.
  4. The C-Coil of the Brazing assembly was placed around the copper tubing and fitting, and the trigger was depressed. After roughly 40 seconds the brazing was complete.
  5. The material was cooled in water following completion of the brazing.
  6. The joint was then cross-sectioned to validate that the brazing process had produced a strong, high quality joint.
Results/Benefits: Induction heating provides:
  • Strong durable joints
  • Selective and precise heat zone, resulting in less part distortion and joint stress than welding
  • Less oxidation
  • Faster heating cycles
  • More consistent results and suitability for large volume production, without the need for batch processing
  • Safer than flame brazing
